What I have been up to

Now that school has started time seems to be flying bye! I am about to be in week three of classes. So far things are doing alright. My classes are kicking my butt, but kind of in a good way. Gotta stay pretty focused this semester. However, I do get some free time and I do live an everyday life. I thought I would share with you some stuff I have been up to and in to!

WHAT I HAVE..

Been Watching:
I have been all about the ladies of comedy for T.V. watching lately. I had never seen girls (because we don't get HBO:( ), so when I saw it for only $20 at target I had to get it and see what everyone was talking about. I fricken LOVED it!! So some of the girls aren't likable at times, the show just felt real. I watched it with my bestie and we died laughing! I am so bummed I can't watch season two for probably a long time!! As for New Girl, I had only seen some snips here and there but never a full episode. I am a huge Zooey Deschanel fan!! I jumped on Amazon and found a deal on season one of New Girl and started it as soon as it hit my mail box. This show makes me giggle nonstop. I want to snuggle up and be all indie cute and comfy when I watch it, just like Jess. Who's that girl? Who's that girl? Its Jess!!

Been Reading:
Text books..text books..text books. I am paving my path for Gender and Women's studies! This semester is all gender and all women related. I am letting my feminist flag fly! Some of these books are actually really good and interesting. Also this is not all my text books..how sad is that..Yay education! I might sneak in some Walking Dead too, just so I don't go text book crazy.

Been Eating:
Ever since my health class I have been doing a pretty good job at eating more on the healthy side. Eating at home helps a lot, I actually get full meals most nights. I could probably use more fruits, but hey its winter, slim pickin's. Anyway, I have been doing good on staying healthy enough. I have classes all day Tuesday so I have started to pack a little snack for myself. My new favorite snack is chocolate covered almonds! So tasty and not bad for you! This year I am also trying to drink more water. I now bring my water bottle to class and try to drink it all at least once-twice a day.

Been wanting to do:
I have been wanting to make a life board. Yes, I said it! A life board! Except I just want to make one for the year. I want to cut out pictures and sayings to keep me going through the year and to remind me of my goals. I have been tied up with school and phasing out my social life so this project has yet to be started. I am hoping to have a nice Sunday free to do it all at once. I have really become a whole new me over the past few months and I want to keep the positive changes going. (Good magazines for some inspiration hehe)

Been Listening to:
* Lana Del Ray
* She & Him
*MPR

Been Living by:
It speaks for itself..be yourself

So that is pretty much what my life has been like for the past two weeks! I have been collecting some outfit pictures as well to maybe make a "what I've been wearing" post! Hope all is well with you out there!

Halloween, Halloween, Halloween!

Halloween is over and I am pretty bummed. I had a lot of spooky fun this year though. I got to dress up for work all month, eat tasty treats, hand out candy at the mall to trick-or-treaters, and see my friends. I have said it before and I will say it again, what isn't there to love about Halloween!!

Spooky Treats-
I could not get enough fall flavors for Halloween this year! I had many delicious Caramel apple ciders, they were so tasty! Spooky cat cookies were a must for the holiday. Even the frozen yogurt shop got in the spirit and had pumpkin flavored froyo! Nom nom nom!!!

Horror Decor-

What is Halloween without all the decorations??!! Little boy Pi and I went to Emma Crumbies and got some nice little pumpkins. I didn't get to carve any pumpkins this year. I did get a Halloween Micheal Myers tribute tattoo with my dad, our matching kitchen knives. I decorated my room with pumpkins, bats, and skulls and cuddled up to watch Walking Dead. My movie collection didn't grow this year, but I will have to check the Halloween clearance.

Dress up-
Pilot as a giraffe
Vintage Lady

Chaplin & Misty
Cow Kitty Pumpkin
80's
So many McGrubbers...
Dressed as my manager, Pam!
I just love dressing up for Halloween!! Of course I thought of like 20 more ideas of things to dress up as, guess I will just have to wait till next year. What were your favorite costumes this year?

Till next year Halloween...

My Fall Play List

Well it is finally that time of year, FALL!! The weather has been perfect here, brisk yet still warm, sunny with just enough wispy clouds making all the fall colors pop. Fall is the start of no radio season for me. Fall and Winter are the two seasons I want to set the mood with my tunes instead of hear the hits all day long. Here are my tunes for getting me into the Fall mood...

Some of these artists are similar, I like kind of slower indie dark and moody songs for fall. Lana DelRey, She and Him, Pulp, and Kate Nash fight in that category. M.I.A. and Santigold are my pump up and jam a little on those sunny Fall drives. Too much depressed romance music can put you a little too much in that dark mood, so you need some loud girl power in there.

Some other artists who appear during Fall-
-ABBA
- Beatles
- She wants revenge
- Yeah yeah yeahs
- Talk radio (like real talk radio, not a band)

What artists and songs make you think of fall?

Bottle Cap Craft

This Sunday I had a pleasant evening with my Aunt and cousin. We watched some movies and made a very easy and unique craft. We made bottle caps buttons, magnets, and hair clips. Here is what you will need!

*Bottle caps
*Magazines
*Mod podge
*Melt Art
*Scissors
*Paintbrushes
*An oven
*baking sheet
*Wax paper

Step 1: Pick out the pictures you want from magazines. They need to be smaller images since they will be cut to fit into the cap. Cut your pictures out and use the mod podge to apply a light layer under the picture and on top. Make sure to glue the edges down good. Also have then oven preheated to 300 degrees.
Step 2: Wait an hour or so to make sure the mod podge clue is dry. Then fill each cap with the melt art powder. Fill the cap slightly more than full and make sure it is as evenly spread across the whole top.
Step 3: Do a few caps at a time for trial and error. Since each oven is different you might want to try your least favorite ones first to get a grip on time and temp. We cooked ours for about 5-7 minutes. Checking every so often. You will know they are done when there is no more powder, just a clear coding. Sometimes some bubble and others just don't turn out. I think it has a lot to do with making sure the mod podge clue is fully dry.

Step 4: Once the bottle caps cool from the over clue magnets, pins, or hair clips to the back. And Wa-La! Personalized accessories!

Happy Crafting!

Summer To Dos.

Now that summer is half over it is time to start getting all ideas together of things left to do this summer! I will share some of my summer to dos and give some more ideas of fun things there is still time for!

My To Dos..
  • Movie Mania-
Summer is the best for mega block buster movies. I have already seen Brave, Magic Mike and Spiderman. I will be seeing Batman tomorrow! Movies are a great way to keep cool on those hot days and you can go with your family, friends, or that special someone.
  • Outside Fun-
I love the heat of summer and I love being outside without freezing my butt off during those midwest winters. I plan on spending plenty more days out in the pool or at a lake. I also have a beach day set up with my friends. It is one of my summer goals to go paddle boarding this summer. Beach days are also great opportunities to have a picnic. Once Minnesota is out of its second or third heat advisory I plan on going on some bike rides. A trip to our farmer's market is on my summer to do list as well. I feel it is easier to eat healthier in the summer when there are plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to choose form.  I am going to soak up all that vitamin d I can and get my tan on!
  • Inside Activities-
There are always those days in summer where it is either too hot, too rainy, or just too lazy to want to go out and do something. For days like this I want to do more cooking and baking. I want that to carry into the fall and winter as well. It doesn't even need to be food, I want to try making new summer drinks. Fresh fruit is a fun and creative way to make drinks have a little extra flavor and a cute summer look. Reading new books is something that is always on my to do list. You can read indoors or out making it a great summer to do. I just started The Perks of being a Wallflower. On a more junkie note, summer is a great time to catch up on your T.V. selection. I just watched all of Breaking Bad season 4 on Netflix and have been tivoing my summer season watch list.

Start to Summer Photo Dump

This summer is going to be all about life improvements and doing things about me for me. After taking my health class I have decided if anything will change or improve my life in the long run it needs to start now. Granted I have slip ups and eating quick is sometimes best, I still try my best. And hey, sometimes you just need a bowl of Spaghetti O's! I have been eating salads and fruit and drinking protein drinks. I try and lay out in the sun to get my tan on whenever I can. I love soaking up the sun it puts me in the best mood! I know it isn't always the best, but I do drench myself in sunscreen! My summer fashion is another area of focus for improvement. I want to treat myself. I am realizing that I deserve good things and as long as I can afford it and will use it, its good for me. So here are some photos of how my fresh summer has been going...

1. My new penny loafers
2. Penara salad and caribou mint tea
3. More salad, strawberries, and water
4. Soaking up the sun
5. Some rootbeer by the pool
6. Wearing my new boots..made me feel all summer-y and ready for a hoedown

What are your summer changes you want to make?

Crossed fingers for early Spring!

The weather has been just lovely these past few days! And it looks like it is going to be nice and warm all week long! It is giving me a bad case of spring fever! I keep thinking of ideas of all the stuff I want to get outside and do. For example, Mark and I always go to the Minnesota zoo and the Como zoo at least once a year.
Mark and I also always like to go for walks and picnic at Sibley Park. It is a park with a petting zoo, flower garden, field space, and a river. We eat there and play Frisbee and see the animals of course! Sitting outside in the sun with little finger foods sounds like a beautiful time. If the weather keeps up and melts all the snow and then dries all the mud ill be having a romantic picnic in no time. Like this one..
Another thing I look forward to in the spring is going to CO. I don't know if I will be able to go this year because of school, but hopefully I have a nice Easter break with some money saved to fly over. I want to go back to the mountains, the Denver Aquarium, the Boulder tea house, and to all the other fun towns for street shopping.

I know it is the first day of February and hoping it wont get chilly or snow again is a little silly, but I am just so excited! I really enjoy walking around town and street shopping and in the winter that just isn't an option. So my fingers are crossed that it will be an early spring!
