My Summer Look Book

I have been working some major summer trends this year. From the maxi to the crop top. This summer seems to be all about playing with lengths. And I have had a blast playing around. Here are some of my favorite looks..

Top: Posh Love
Bottoms: forever21
Shoes: urban outfitters

The crop top is huge this summer! I have stocked up on a few different styles and just love to mix and match them with different looks. And crop top or not this shirt is a must have!! High waisted shorts are still trending too. They are perfect for crop tops so you don't show too much skin. Also I can't get over the pin up style they bring to a look.

Top: forever21
Skirt: TJ Max
Shoes: urban outfitters

Another crop top! This one is flowy and an off the shoulder. It has been my summer go to top. My skirt is on trend with its high low style. Black and white has been my summer colors. I often add a pop of color with my shoes. It is just so chic and great for any occasion.

Dress: Forever21
Shoes: TJ Max

Light and flowy is a must for those hot summer days! If I could I would wear this dress everyday! The cream color makes it easy to add bold accessories or play it down for a day look. It follows the high low trend and also has a little cut out in the back. This dress is also great because it can be work spring-fall.

Dress: Posh Love
Shoes: Heartbreaker

I have jumped on the Maxi trend train! I always thought people were crazy for wearing long length skirts and dresses in the summer, but turns out Maxi is very comfortable. Black makes it easy to wear through multiple seasons and good for day or night wear. It is a pretty sexy look too. I have been noticing people add crop tops over their Maxi dresses for a fun look. I might have to combine cat shirt with this Maxi!

So my main summer looks this year are: crop tops, Maxi dresses, high waisted shorts, and high low skits and dresses. Summer is a great time to add those pops of colors but I have been playing into the black and white look. It makes transitioning from day to night easy. What are your top summer looks?

Blue is the new Black

I have noticed shades of blue (especially a light pastel blue) have been popping up for spring trends. I fully support this trend. I have always loved shades of blue- teals, mints, aqua, seafoam, pastel, baby, sky, ect. So I decided to do a little window online shopping for some different blue items that I will be looking for to add to my spring wardrobe.

Blue Bottoms-

Will blue jeans ever really go out of style? I doubt it. Like the color black, they are always stylish and always go with everything. The blue pin-up inspired high waisted shorts are a dream come true! High wasted shorts are my new must have! You can wear these with a tucked in chiffon shirt, a bustier, a lounge tank, and the list goes on and on. Staying on the high waisted trend I am dying over these acid wash high waisted shorts. A nice mix of the pin-up shorts and blue jeans. These add a blue edge to anything!

Blue Tops-

The denim top has survived multiple seasons and is still on trend point. A denim top comes in several shades of blue. Also several styles, cuts, vests, button ups, cut-outs, and short sleeve. That denim just matches all things. The tank and tee are versatile and can be mix and matched with tons of outfits. In the middle is a chiffon baby blue button up. A easy way to make an out-fit go from day to night.

Blue Accessories-

There is really an endless amount of ways to add blue hues to a look. These are just a few ideas. Your purse is a good start. I like the edge with the studs and skulls on this iphone wallet. A clutch or small purse are cute accessories in baby blues too. A bralett is all the craze for spring and summer. I bought one and wear it all the time. It adds a hint of color and is perfect for shirts that are cut too low or have wide open armpits. Add a scarf, who doesn't love adding a scarf? Finally, nail polish is the easiest way to add a hint of blue to your life.

This spring trend adds a whole new meaning to the saying "Feeling Blue." I am on the blue bandwagon and now I will just wait for spring time to bloom!

What I Wore: Vintage Bitch Princess

I don't really know why I call this outfit my vintage bitch princess outfit but it just feels right. Vintage because of the pearls and lace, bitch because of the boots and attitude, princess..well because sometimes I just feel like one. I still love mixing the hard and soft looks together. I am beginning to get better at mixing and layering. I just have to play around more and face my fashion fears.

Sweater: Forever21
Dress: Ragstock
Packpack:Ragstock
Tights: Forever21
Boots: Forever21
(Man, they should pay me for how much of them I advertise in an outfit!)

I am trying this small backpack as a purse thing. I am not fully sure how I feel about it yet. It holds all my stuff and doesn't seem so messy though, and that is a plus. I am just head over heels for lace and this teal-ish color. It is girly and a lot of time I mix in edge and attitude with my daily outfits. I layered the sweater over the dress and this is something I haven't tried before! It was fun and I am very pleased with how it came together. 2013 will be a fun year of trying new risks.

Christmas Prezzies!

I just can't let Christmas die! Hehe. Well actually today I finally took down my tiny pink tree and organized most of my presents. Now I just have a small pile of empty boxes to decide to keep for next year or just trash them. It turned out to be a good opportunity to snap some pics of my gifts.

1. A very Hello Kitty Christmas! Some nice socks, a planner, and new jumpdrive
2. Some Victoria's Secret goodies! I will smell so good!
3. Walking Dead Walking Dead Walking Dead!!! New sweatshirt, I <3 Daryl shirt, and the second compendium
4. Forever21 sweater, American Horror Story season 1 on DVD, and a Steve Madden purse
5. Boots, because you can never have enough boots!!
6. My new pock-a-dot sock obsession. Ok I only got two of these for Christmas, the rest were gifts to myself. I just love them! And they peek over the top of my boots.

Tis the Season..To bundle Up!

The first snow fell last night, and to my horror this morning it was still slightly left on the ground. It seems like usual I have forgotten how awful I find winter to be. Sure the snow is pretty, the smells and flavors are delightful, and of course the joys of Christmas day (not all the Christmas chaos leading up to it) but that cold chills me to my very bones. I seem to loose all sense of fashion in the winter. I like layers, I just have never been that great at layering. My best bet at layering is a cardigan over a t-shirt. This chilly season I am going to try and have a decent winter wardrobe. However, this post is all about the outwear a midwest girl needs to keep warm while spending time outdoors.

First things first, a coat. The main source of warmth. I am pretty picky about coats. I have more nice cute fall jackets than winter coats. Sometimes it is hard to find something that is lined well inside and adorable on the outside.
Urban Outfitters
Target
Both these coats are flattering fits, warm material, and super fabulous. Teal and Leopard print are my two favorite accent colors/prints, they are even cute together. I find winter coats to be a bit of an investment. They tend to be a little pricey so you need to make sure the coat will be in style and wearable for multiple years.

After a coat you will need cozy winter accessories. Keeping my hands, face, and ears is my main priority. I just can't stand my extremities being frosty icicles. Winter accessories are also a great way to add personality and color to your outerwear.

Scarves and mittens are my lifesavers. I am not a big hat person, I prefer a cowl. In my old post baby its cowl outside I am wearing the teal cowl my grandma  made for me. Also my lovely friend MaDonna is going to make me a new one too. Sometimes it is hard to pick out accessories because you don't want all your outerwear to not match. I tend to not mind mixing and matching so as long as you own your color palates then I say do what you please. Also I just really want to stay warm.

The final big thing you will need are boots! All the snow, ice, and winter gunk can really do damage to your shoes. I have relearned this lesson every winter. I just don't find most actual snow boots cute. Keeping my toes warm lack when wearing my normal shoes. Feet are a hard thing to handle though, too cold when walking outside, too hot once you find refuge indoors. I am hard to please..

DSW is where I found these few acceptable boots. Lets face it they are not that cute and fashionable, but they are versatile enough to not ruin a charming holiday wardrobe and they are made for the winter terrain and keeping in the warmth. I think the middle pair is my favorite. They don't seem as clunky and I like the slipper-esq of them.

So there you have it, all the necessities to bundle up and make it through this season we are about to plummet into. Stay warm followers!

What I Wore

Hello everyone! Classes have started and I have had my nose in a book or been taking notes since the start, so my blog time has been cut. I have a little time now to share an outfit I wore and can't wait to rock again! Enjoy!

Top: TJ Max
Skirt: TJ Max
Boots: Forever 21
Earrings: Ragstock

Can fall weather just be here already? This is yet another one of my fall inspired looks that I can't wait to ware more once it cools down a little. These are one of my favorite pairs of boots and they go with almost anything. I was inspired to buy these earrings from watching the tv show 21 Jumpstreet. Judy from it wears so many long crazy earrings and it adds a fun edge and playful look to an outfit. Well back to school work and waiting for fall! Have a good weekend!

What I Wore: All American

Top: Hot Topic
Shorts: Forever21
Mocs: Target

The 4th has passed and the Olympics have been closed but my heart still has fireworks of Americana! The shorts are an odd cut, but I really like it! I think they have a boyfriend like fit. They rise higher than most jeans but are not high rise shorts. It is delightful on my figure. Lace seems to be fading away into the back of the fashion closet, but I still enjoy adding some texture every now and then. Mocs would appear to be keeping their spot in top fall favorites. And I hadn't gotten onto this trend train until I fell head over heels for these mustard $20 (Yes only $20!!!) Mocs. They add a hint of color without taking away too much from an outfit. I would consider this outfit as one of my moving into fall looks. As much as I don't want summer to end I am very ready for a season change. With a season change comes life change. Hope you are all enjoying this past few weeks and are finding fun fall pieces!

What I Wore: keepin' it edgy

I feel like summer has been going on forever. I was out of school at the start of May and even though time has been flying by I still have a month and a half of summer time left! Retail seems to be feeling the same way, fall fashions are starting to make their appearances. Chiffon looks to be staying in style for this fall. And on warm fall days bandeaus, crop tops, and bustiers will drag into the fall season as well. So here is my summer into fall transition outfit!
 Top: Ragstock
Bustier: Wet Seal
Shorts: Forever21

Add a hat for a fun summer into fall accessory!
Keeping it nice and cool with the leopard (of course!!) bustier and keeping it breezy yet covered with the chiffon top. I love how crisp white chiffon looks. I am still rockin' my favorite new high rise shorts. The changing of seasons is the perfect time to mix season looks together! Enjoy your between season mixing!

What I Wore

I thought I would pop in quick outfit I put together. I thought it was a pretty casual look and feel but it turned out looking like it could be casual or even professional with the right shoes and accessories.

Top- Charlotte Ruse
Skirt- Ragstock
Shoes- Urban Outfitters
I am still chiffon crazy and trying all sorts of new looks with my tops. I kind of like how this ended up looking like a black dress with the top over it, even though its just a black skirt and tank top. My blue flats add some color and give it the laid back look. Like I said before a pair of heels would give this outfit a professional look. It is so fun to play around and mix and match my clothes.

Playing Paper Doll V.2

I am at it again, playing my own version of paper dolls. I online shopped and put together a few looks. This paper doll edition is festival themed. With spring here and summer around the corner it is about time festivals will begin.
The rock/music festival is the perfect time to edge up your look. Fringe is a great way to add some texture and fun into a look. Shorts with studs also help add some rockin' details. I also love these sandals! They are dainty yet edgy. However, if you are going to a hard core rock music festival shoes with your toes peeking out isn't always the best idea. For accessories keep it minimal would be best. The fringe is what makes everything pop.
An art festival is the perfect time to dress bohemian and flowy. A high low skirt is a great piece to show off. The crop top is big this spring, but not everyone is comfortable with showing off their tummy. Any bright color top would look nice with this outfit. These flats are so adorable. Each piece in this outfit is a stand out piece but they also flow well together.
Local festivals are the most fun! Whether it be a carnival type or a fundraiser event, this is the time to dress to impress. Bright colors and patterns are sure to make you stand out in the crowd. This look was semi inspired by the 50's. The sunglasses and top are both vintage-esq. The fun part about bold colors is that you can mix multiple bold colors together. Bright coral pants match nicely with the bright blue purse. Mixing and matching colors, textures, and patterns is a great spring trend.

Now you are ready to tackle your festival inspirations! Go out there and enjoy! All these pieces were found on forever21.com.

My Outfit

Another spring trend! Here is another outfit I put together from my new clothes. Chiffon and color blocking are the trends I worked in this outfit.

Top: Ragstock
Skirt: Ragstock
Capri Leggings: Heartbreaker
I love the coral color of this skirt. It is the best pop of color. This has also become one of my new favorite shirts. Chiffon is perfect for spring. Its light and can come in so many colors, styles, and patterns. I am loving spring!

What I've been Wearing

Spring is in full bloom! And so is my spring trend outfits. I have been loving a lot of the spring trends this year. I have been wearing floral prints, bright colors, colored shorts, cowboy boots, and some chiffon (my new love!). Here are a few looks I put together. More too come later too!
Name tag hehe

 Dress- Ragstock
Cardigan- H&M
Belt- Forever21 (came with a skirt)
Tights- Target
Boots- Ragstock/Vintage
There is just something about cowboy boots that make me think of nice spring weather! I love this pair with all the fringe on it, they add a little fun and a twist to my outfit. Floral prints are always big for spring. I like this dress a lot because the darker tones make it a year round dress. It is also light and flowy, making it great to just throw on or make fashionable.

Top- forever21
Tank- Ragstock
Shorts- Ragstock
Bright colored pants and shorts are huge this spring. I wasn't to into it until I saw this mint shorts. I love the color! My crop top, also a big trend lately, used to not need a tank under it until I washed it and it shrunk. Boo. I am really into my coral nail polish too. It wasn't even a dull dark winter, but bright colors just put me in a great mood
What are your favorite spring trends to rock?

What I have been Wearing

It is getting more and more like spring!! I can't wait to be able to show a little leg or not always have a cardigan or sweatshirt on. But since it is still a little chilly here are some outfits I have put together to keep me warm but give me a spring feel.

Shirt- Charlotte Russe
Jeans- Old Navy
A shirt similar to this was on Pretty Little Liars and my post Wish List Wednesday. I loved that shirt and then I happened to just stumble upon it while shopping! So happy! I also wore it with my pleather leggins and it looked very chic. This top is definitely a new favorite.

Scarf- Charlotte Russ
Cardigan- H&M
T-shirt- Target
Tank- Victoria's secret
Leggins- Target
This has become my lazy casual winter outfit. It keeps me covered and adds color but is still comfortable and easy to throw on. I can mix and match my Ts and tanks too.
What comfortable fashions do you wear during the colder months?
