My Spring/Summer Fashion Loves

Spring is my favorite fashion time of year. I love bright colors, sun dresses, and lace. I have put together some of my current favorite spring going into summer trends.

Mauve is the color this spring and summer. This pink shade is a great way to add a little color, white is my other must have spring and summer color. I always feel spring is the time of year to be a little more feminine and light. 

The Maxi is a must have! They can be a statement piece all on their own or you can use them as a blank pallet and let your accessories do the talking.  The top maxis are my own. The bottom ones are all from Forever21. Maxis work great for spring and summer because they are so light weight and easy to throw on. Most of the colors and patterns they come in translate perfectly from bright spring to a funky fall. 

 Shoes, shoes, shoes.. Spring and summer can be tricky for shoes. During spring the ground can often be mushy and muddy from that last bit of lingering winter. And for Summer you are so hot you don't want anything covering your feet. But like most fashionistas know, the shoe can complete an outfit. Vintage style shoes bring the charm for spring. I always like an oxford-esque show or boot. Sandals in the summer don't have to be boring old flip-flops anymore. Add some color and texture with a great shoe.

My accessory obsession this season is stones. Turquoise is my favorite. It gives an urban feel while adding color. Also the phanny-pack is back and I am loving it! I actually have a little black one to work this summer. Sometime a purse is just too in the way and a hassle. If you can condense what you carry on your person life gets simpler. However, I always have a big purse with everything I need kept in my car. 

Spring and Summer are perfect times to be daring and try something new. There are so many opportunities of outdoor festivals, patio dates, and sunny parties. Cheers!

My Summer Look Book

I have been working some major summer trends this year. From the maxi to the crop top. This summer seems to be all about playing with lengths. And I have had a blast playing around. Here are some of my favorite looks..

The crop top is huge this summer! I have stocked up on a few different styles and just love to mix and match them with different looks. And crop top or not this shirt is a must have!! High waisted shorts are still trending too. They are perfect for crop tops so you don't show too much skin. Also I can't get over the pin up style they bring to a look.

Another crop top! This one is flowy and an off the shoulder. It has been my summer go to top. My skirt is on trend with its high low style. Black and white has been my summer colors. I often add a pop of color with my shoes. It is just so chic and great for any occasion.

Light and flowy is a must for those hot summer days! If I could I would wear this dress everyday! The cream color makes it easy to add bold accessories or play it down for a day look. It follows the high low trend and also has a little cut out in the back. This dress is also great because it can be work spring-fall.

I have jumped on the Maxi trend train! I always thought people were crazy for wearing long length skirts and dresses in the summer, but turns out Maxi is very comfortable. Black makes it easy to wear through multiple seasons and good for day or night wear. It is a pretty sexy look too. I have been noticing people add crop tops over their Maxi dresses for a fun look. I might have to combine cat shirt with this Maxi!

 

 

 

So my main summer looks this year are: crop tops, Maxi dresses, high waisted shorts, and high low skits and dresses. Summer is a great time to add those pops of colors but I have been playing into the black and white look. It makes transitioning from day to night easy. What are your top summer looks?

The shoe for spring

Hello bloggers! I finished my spring semester and I am in summer mode. However, it is still spring time. I have been picking up on some spring trends in foot wear. Or maybe I am just jumping on the wagon a little late. I have decided the loafer and the Oxford are spring time must haves. There are so many styles, colors, and wearability for these shoes. They can add a sophistication to a look or casual an outfit down. The color and print options are almost endless. I think keeping it more simple and neutral is the best way to go, but that's just me. I like that they can be boots, flats, or even slip ons. These two shoes are right on trend. Even though this are popping up, I think they will always be wearable. The vintage look is always in style, in my opinion. So enjoy some of my favorite versions of the Oxford and loafer!

Here in good ol' MN spring seems to be indecisive on coming out. We have had a handful of acceptable spring days but the rest are looking like Winter is staying past its welcome. However, on those few nicer spring days I managed to put together some good starter spring outfits. Here are a few!

Most my winter attire has been leggings as pants. As spring slightly lingers I carry my leggings through. Capri Leggings are so great! They show some leg, keep you cool, go with everything, and can be very casual and comfortable. This Tank top is fun! I mean it has a cat on it so it is already awesome.

At first when I put this outfit on I thought it was a little silly, but it grew on me. I had forgotten how a simple black skirt can go with everything. It was the Walking Dead Sunday, so I had to pay tribute. I haven't been able to find much to wear these shoes with (or had nice enough weather to save them from snow and mud). I just find this outfit surprisingly pleasant.

When I bought this dress I was so excited for spring!! Sadly, I have not been able to wear it much let alone without a cardigan and tights. This blue is a great pop color and will be big for upcoming seasons. I have also deemed the loafer and oxford THE shoes for spring time! This, normally for men, shoe has taken on some feminine charming styles.

I have finally steeped away from the plain black legging! However, I did not step far away from my obsession with color mint! I want to get more longer fashion tops for spring and summer. I cannot get enough of the lace cut out down the sides of this top. It adds just enough sexy and sassy. Again I am wearing a lovely pair of nude loafers. *TING* 

Now that I started to sneak some spring into my wardrobe I am praying Mother Nature will follow suit. Come on sunshine and warm days!!

Blue is the new Black

I have noticed shades of blue (especially a light pastel blue) have been popping up for spring trends. I fully support this trend. I have always loved shades of blue- teals, mints, aqua, seafoam, pastel, baby, sky, ect. So I decided to do a little window online shopping for some different blue items that I will be looking for to add to my spring wardrobe.

Blue Bottoms- 

Will blue jeans ever really go out of style? I doubt it. Like the color black, they are always stylish and always go with everything. The blue pin-up inspired high waisted shorts are a dream come true! High wasted shorts are my new must have! You can wear these with a tucked in chiffon shirt, a bustier, a lounge tank, and the list goes on and on. Staying on the high waisted trend I am dying over these acid wash high waisted shorts. A nice mix of the pin-up shorts and blue jeans. These add a blue edge to anything!

Blue Tops-

The denim top has survived multiple seasons and is still on trend point. A denim top comes in several shades of blue. Also several styles, cuts, vests, button ups, cut-outs, and short sleeve. That denim just matches all things. The tank and tee are versatile and can be mix and matched with tons of outfits. In the middle is a chiffon baby blue button up. A easy way to make an out-fit go from day to night.

Blue Accessories-

There is really an endless amount of ways to add blue hues to a look. These are just a few ideas. Your purse is a good start. I like the edge with the studs and skulls on this iphone wallet. A clutch or small purse are cute accessories in baby blues too. A bralett is all the craze for spring and summer. I bought one and wear it all the time. It adds a hint of color and is perfect for shirts that are cut too low or have wide open armpits. Add a scarf, who doesn't love adding a scarf? Finally, nail polish is the easiest way to add a hint of blue to your life. 

This spring trend adds a whole new meaning to the saying "Feeling Blue." I am on the blue bandwagon and now I will just wait for spring time to bloom!

What I Wore: Vintage Bitch Princess

I don't really know why I call this outfit my vintage bitch princess outfit but it just feels right. Vintage because of the pearls and lace, bitch because of the boots and attitude, princess..well because sometimes I just feel like one. I still love mixing the hard and soft looks together. I am beginning to get better at mixing and layering. I just have to play around more and face my fashion fears.

 I am trying this small backpack as a purse thing. I am not fully sure how I feel about it yet. It holds all my stuff and doesn't seem so messy though, and that is a plus. I am just head over heels for lace and this teal-ish color. It is girly and a lot of time I mix in edge and attitude with my daily outfits. I layered the sweater over the dress and this is something I haven't tried before! It was fun and I am very pleased with how it came together. 2013 will be a fun year of trying new risks.

It is getting a tad morning these past few days so I decided to put some work into looking decent and putting together a full outfit that isn't just leggings and a sweater. I like mixing the colors with this outfit. It is also a nice mix of girly and bad ass girly.

I enjoyed some Professor Layton in this outfit today!! Yayy!!

Tis the Season..To bundle Up!

The first snow fell last night, and to my horror this morning it was still slightly left on the ground. It seems like usual I have forgotten how awful I find winter to be. Sure the snow is pretty, the smells and flavors are delightful, and of course the joys of Christmas day (not all the Christmas chaos leading up to it) but that cold chills me to my very bones. I seem to loose all sense of fashion in the winter. I like layers, I just have never been that great at layering. My best bet at layering is a cardigan over a t-shirt. This chilly season I am going to try and have a decent winter wardrobe. However, this post is all about the outwear a midwest girl needs to keep warm while spending time outdoors.

First things first, a coat. The main source of warmth. I am pretty picky about coats. I have more nice cute fall jackets than winter coats. Sometimes it is hard to find something that is lined well inside and adorable on the outside.

Both these coats are flattering fits, warm material, and super fabulous. Teal and Leopard print are my two favorite accent colors/prints, they are even cute together. I find winter coats to be a bit of an investment. They tend to be a little pricey so you need to make sure the coat will be in style and wearable for multiple years.

After a coat you will need cozy winter accessories. Keeping my hands, face, and ears is my main priority. I just can't stand my extremities being frosty icicles. Winter accessories are also a great way to add personality and color to your outerwear.

Scarves and mittens are my lifesavers. I am not a big hat person, I prefer a cowl. In my old post baby its cowl outside I am wearing the teal cowl my grandma  made for me. Also my lovely friend MaDonna is going to make me a new one too. Sometimes it is hard to pick out accessories because you don't want all your outerwear to not match. I tend to not mind mixing and matching so as long as you own your color palates then I say do what you please. Also I just really want to stay warm.

The final big thing you will need are boots! All the snow, ice, and winter gunk can really do damage to your shoes. I have relearned this lesson every winter. I just don't find most actual snow boots cute. Keeping my toes warm lack when wearing my normal shoes. Feet are a hard thing to handle though, too cold when walking outside, too hot once you find refuge indoors. I am hard to please..

DSW is where I found these few acceptable boots. Lets face it they are not that cute and fashionable, but they are versatile enough to not ruin a charming holiday wardrobe and they are made for the winter terrain and keeping in the warmth. I think the middle pair is my favorite. They don't seem as clunky and I like the slipper-esq of them.

So there you have it, all the necessities to bundle up and make it through this season we are about to plummet into. Stay warm followers!

The 4th has passed and the Olympics have been closed but my heart still has fireworks of Americana! The shorts are an odd cut, but I really like it! I think they have a boyfriend like fit. They rise higher than most jeans but are not high rise shorts. It is delightful on my figure. Lace seems to be fading away into the back of the fashion closet, but I still enjoy adding some texture every now and then. Mocs would appear to be keeping their spot in top fall favorites. And I hadn't gotten onto this trend train until I fell head over heels for these mustard $20 (Yes only $20!!!) Mocs. They add a hint of color without taking away too much from an outfit. I would consider this outfit as one of my moving into fall looks. As much as I don't want summer to end I am very ready for a season change. With a season change comes life change. I feel like summer has been going on forever. I was out of school at the start of May and even though time has been flying by I still have a month and a half of summer time left! Retail seems to be feeling the same way, fall fashions are starting to make their appearances. Chiffon looks to be staying in style for this fall. And on warm fall days bandeaus, crop tops, and bustiers will drag into the fall season as well. So here is my summer into fall transition outfit!

Keeping it nice and cool with the leopard (of course!!) bustier and keeping it breezy yet covered with the chiffon top. I love how crisp white chiffon looks. I am still rockin' my favorite new high rise shorts. The changing of seasons is the perfect time to mix season looks together! Enjoy your between season mixing!

Birthday,Art Fair, plus some!

Well my summer still hasn't slowed down any! However, I am not complaining. I have been keeping busy with tons of fun things happening. Since I will be out in Colorado for my birthday on the 9th I had an early celebration with my fam. We had yummy grilled food, enjoyed the nice weather, and all caught up. I found my cake at Dairy Queen!! I was so happy, it even already had happy birthday written on it. My family friend Layla took me to get a mani pedi and my bestie Amy got me a sugar skull. Too cute!

Later that week was the annual Art Fair. It is a little festival with art booths, bands, and performances out in the street where the Coffee Hag is. My aunt and the lovely MaDonna (memadonna) danced there. It was a lovely day out. I got to take my bike out to enjoy the festivities.

No more Yellow Polk-A-Dot Bikini

It may feel like spring has just started and summer swim time is in the distant future, but its never to early to start scooping out new swim trends.

Bikini-

There are so many new fun ways to rock the bikini these days. There are cold colors, patterns, cuts, and styles. The high waster bikini is always nice for a tad of a vintage look..or to cover that tummy pooch you didn't have time to work off. I love the striped sailor looking suit. Since bikinis are so revealing its always nice to add a bit of flirty fun to them. All these suits are from Target.

One Piece-

 Who says one pieces can't be sexy? I am more of a bikini kind of girl myself, but these are some smokin' suits! The first one is animal print, which is obviously a trendy print. The trick of that suit is the deep plunge makes it appear like you have a long torso, perfect for all you shorter gals. I am not huge on the middle suit, but side cut outs are another trend and add a little sexy to the one piece. The last one is my favorite! It is so cute and flirty! These are all also from Target.

Vintage-

Vintage style suits are making a come back, and I love it tons! The vintage style makes me want to wear two pieces! Meeoow! I think a tan would go great with the middle suit. The bottom one had a matching top, but i think a plain black top cut like the sailor suit would be adorable with those bottoms. The print and high waste are just to die for.
